A standard for verifiable artifacts, developed in CalConnect

Signatif — the Sealed Interoperable Graduated Non-repudiable Anchored Trust Infrastructure Framework — is developed in CalConnect, The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium.

Signatif specifies a trust infrastructure for artifacts whose trustworthiness carries legal, economic, or safety consequences: conformity certificates, calibration records, test results, and compliance attestations issued in regulated industries.

The framework binds signing authority to a multi-dimensional authorization scope, establishes artifact trustworthiness through the convergence of independent attestations from multiple trust dimensions, and treats trust as a lifecycle — granted, sustained, and withdrawn through formal threshold-gated mechanisms.

The standard defines requirements, not products. Fourteen requirements classes — from architecture and artifact format through verification, transparency, revocation, and algorithm agility — each carry a matching conformance class, so "conforming implementation" is a testable claim. Registries are maintained by implementing schemes, which keeps national and regulatory algorithm choices where they belong.

The name

From Latin signare — to mark with a seal, to sign; the root of sign, signature, and signet. The premise is in the stem: trustworthiness is established by what is verifiably signed, not by who is trusted.
